To support our continued growth worldwide, we are expanding our examiner network, and inviting teachers to develop their professional practice by becoming Cambridge examiners.

 

We currently have examiner vacancies for AS & A Level Global Perspectives and Research Component 1 (Written Examination).

 

Cambridge International AS & A Level Global Perspectives and Research prepares learners for positive engagement with our rapidly changing world.

 

Learners broaden their outlook through the critical analysis of - and reflection on - issues of global significance. The Cambridge International AS & A Level Global Perspectives and Research syllabus is based on skills rather than on specific content. Learners develop research, thinking, reasoning and communication skills by following an approach to analysing and evaluating arguments and perspectives called the Critical Path. Collaborative skills are enhanced through participation in a team project. The skills gained through study of Cambridge International AS & A Level Global Perspectives and Research enable students to meet the demands of twenty-first century learning and to make a successful transition to study in higher education.

 

Component 1 Written Examination 
The written examination consists of compulsory, structured questions based on sources provided with the examination paper. Candidates analyse and evaluate arguments, interrogate evidence and compare perspectives on global issues listed in the syllabus.

 

Marking is conducted on-screen using RM assessor and standardisation is online (i.e. no meeting). Examiners need a reliable and fast Broadband connection. This component is also suitable for international examiners not residing in the UK.

 

Requirements are that applicants have:

  • three years teaching experience (in any subject)
  • experience of teaching 14 to 19 year olds would be advantageous
  • a degree level qualification (in any subject)
  • a broad interest in contemporary global issues
  • the ability to apply criteria across a range of global issues
  • the ability to readily engage with skills-based assessment
  • a PC, fast and reliable broadband connection and good IT literacy

Online training will be provided and applicants are expected to mark some training scripts.
